Sportsman Club Road, Trail A

Trail Overview

This is Dickinson County Sportsman Club Road. This trail begins at its intersection with Trail A/Carney Lake Road and the paved portion of Sportsman Club Road. The trail ends at its intersection with Lyons Lake Road and Calumet Mine Road Trail A. This is a very wide, winding forest/ fire road. The entire trail surface consists of hard pack or loose gravel, with some portions of sand mixed in throughout. As the trail navigates through the Dickinson county landscape, large old-growth trees will be seen in almost all directions; however, as the trail reaches its north-easterly ending point, it will begin to clear out due to recent areas being forested off. These areas allow for excellent early sunrise views. There are several private land owners' properties located off this trail, as well as several trails and trail systems that Sportsman Club Road, Trail A, provides access to, so traffic throughout it is more regular than some other trails in the area.

Difficulty

This trail can easily be completed by riders of all experience levels. The trail is wide enough to easily fit two vehicles in passing, and has excellent sight lines throughout with very few blind spots. Due to all of the trails in the area that Sportsman Club Road, Trail A services, as well as several land owners around the trail, the trail does have a higher level of traffic than some others in the area. When it has been very dry for periods of time, this trail can also become very dusty, which can obscure views of the oncoming trail.
