Trail Overview
License Plate Required! Shaker Trail is a very bouncy track that's part of the MCCCT. Located just west of US HWY-131, it's easily accessible. This track was given its name due to the amount of washboard conditions that exist. This is a SXS's dream to rip through. However, in a vehicle, you're sure to need some tylenol for the headache you'll receive after bouncing down this trail. Although the conditions aren't the best for exploring, this trail still has a lot to offer. The surface mostly consists of a combination of sand and dirt as you weave through a beautiful portion of the Traverse City Forest Management Unit that's abundant with plant life and vegetation. Like most of Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause mud/water holes that can get rutted out quickly. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. Please use caution and come prepared! Regardless of the conditions, this is a unique trail!
