Trail Overview

National Forest Service 6701 is a fun bidirectional trail within the Manistee National Forest. Located just southeast of Baldwin, it's easily accessible. Starting from the north end at 88th Street, you'll begin on a grassy two-track that will quickly transition to a leaf-covered dirt two-track trail. As you zig-zag along the trail, you'll come across a couple of washouts. Like most of Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come prepared. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle, with limited places to pass. As you approach roughly the halfway point of the track, you'll encounter a small dispersed campsite right off the trail. If you plan on utilizing this site, PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY, and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails! Also, be sure to seek more information at the local DNR Office/Ranger Station before camping here. The end of the trail finishes coming up and over a grassy hill in the forest, before it kicks out onto Eastman Street. This is not a difficult trail at all, but it's essential to continuing the network of trails in the area, and it contains a lot of beauty. Regardless of the conditions, this is an awesome trail!
