Trail Overview

NFS 6370/6371/6803 is an easy offroad trail, located just a couple miles off M-37 near Bitely. The trail can be run in either direction and is found directly off West 14 Mile Road, making this track easily accessible. The trail is a combination of sand, dirt, and grass (mostly grass), and weaves through a tranquil section of the Manistee National Forest. This trail is unique because in a few areas, it's so heavily wooded with tree and leaf coverage, it feels as if you're driving through a rainforest. Even when the sun is out, it doesn't get very bright along these spots. It gives off a sense of calmness here with it being quiet along this track. There is a lot of overgrowth on this trail, as it's not trafficked very often. Despite this, you'll surely find a plethora of beautiful flowers and plants right alongside this trail. Along this route, you'll also find a dispersed campsite. Should you partake in dispersed camping here, please tread lightly and seek more information from the local DNR Office/Ranger Station. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause mud/water holes that can get rutted out quickly. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. Regardless of the conditions, this is a great trail! Lastly, there are spur trails off this route that lead to private property. Please be respectful of the local landowners and the public lands that we get to use.
