NFS 5532B (Brush Lake Trail)

Trail Overview

National Forest Service Trail 5532B is a short access trail to hiking trails within the Brush Lake Recreation Area. Located off East 6 Mile Road, this route is readily accessible. This trail is typically easy. Most of the trail is a combination of sand and dirt. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause mud/water holes that can get rutted out quickly. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. There is one mud hole that can get rutted out along this trail. The campground is first come, first serve and has a fee for day use as well as a camping fee. For more information, check out the US Forest Service Website. There is a drive-in boat launch on the eastern shore of the river and a smaller carry-in boat launch in the campground. This site is very popular with anglers and hunters. It is also a popular wildlife viewing area and a good stop for viewing fall colors. At the end of this trail is a small turnaround space where the hiking trail begins. Reference the information board at the campground loop on NFS 5534 for more information on camping regulations. All in all, this is a cool trail.
