Trail Overview

NFS 5452 is a seasonal bidirectional trail located within the Manistee National Forest. Starting from the south end, you'll begin on a smooth gravel trail with lasting hilly views. As you cruise along the trail, you'll cross over the MCCCT Trail. Shortly after, the trail makes a bend with a spectacular view of the winding sandy trail ahead. Here, the trail transitions from a smooth gravel surface to a more sandy and dirt track through the forest. You'll be greeted by gorgeous, tall Red Pines along your journey. Logging operations do take place here, so please use caution. A few sections towards the end get a bit rutted out, but like most of Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come Prepared! Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle, with limited places to pass. This is not a difficult trail at all, but it still contains a great amount of beauty and gives access to other great trails nearby. The north end of the trail finishes at West Ironwood Road. One last thing to mention is that this trail is a seasonal trail that is used for snowmobiling during the winter months. Regardless of the conditions, this is a wonderful trail! PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails!
