Trail Overview
NFS 5451 is a seasonal bidirectional trail located within the Manistee National Forest. Starting from the south end at 96th Street, the trail begins on a gravel, sand, and dirt combination surface with plentiful Pine Trees. PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY, and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails! As you navigate down the first part of the trail, it's like a dirt road that you can cruise on. As you continue on the trail will become more narrow and hilly before it crosses over the MCCCT Trail. Shortly after, you'll come across a couple of washouts. These typically aren't bad, but something to note, like most of Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come prepared. Use caution on this track, as there are logging operations that take place here frequently. This is not a difficult trail at all, but it still contains a lot of natural beauty and gives access to other great trails nearby. The end of the trail finishes at the intersection of NFS 6276. Please use this trail to continue through or turn around at this point. NFS 5451 continues onward, however, it dead ends into private property. Again, let's respect the local landowners. One last thing to mention is that this trail is a seasonal trail that is used for snowmobiling during the winter months. Regardless of the conditions, this is a great trail!
