Trail Overview
NFS 5004 is a fun and easy out-and-back off-road trail for beginners. Located off West 14 Mile Road, this route is easily accessible. This trail is typically easy with nothing technical, just a few rutted spots that can become muddy and mucky after inclement weather. Most of the trail is a combination of sand and dirt, and curves through a beautiful section of the Manistee National Forest. Like most of Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause mud/water holes that can get rutted out quickly. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle, with limited places to pass. Logging operations take place here frequently, as you will see, so please use caution. The trail finishes at the intersection of the NFS 6047/6647 Loop. Regardless of the conditions, this is a great starter trail that everyone should check out!
