Trail Overview
McClure Trail is an easy 2.4-mile bidirectional trail, yet scenic in its own way. Located within the Waterloo State Rec Area near Highway 74 between Jackson and Ann Arbor, this trail is easily accessible. Starting from the western end at the intersection of Loveland Trail, you'll start out on a dirt/gravel road in the lush trees. You'll weave through those trees alongside the lush vegetation edging the trail. Be sure to take it all in. Shortly after, you'll enter a thicker section of the forest, bringing a really different vibe and mood to the route. There are many different things to find along this trail. There are both horseback riding and hiking trails, the Waterloo headquarters, and many different lakes, just to name a few. The Lake View trailhead is towards the end of this trail, as well, which also has boat access. Please TREAD LIGHTLY so future generations can enjoy these public spaces. Like most of Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come Prepared! This is not a difficult trail at all, but it contains a lot of beauty and gives access to other great trails nearby. The eastern end of the trail finishes at Bush Road. Regardless of the conditions of this trail, it's a wonderful route to check out! As always, PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails!
