Trail Overview
This cutover trail runs along the foothills of the mountains from Big Dry Canyon across to the water crossing at Birch Creek Campground. It may be wiser to go around the water crossing during times of high water levels by taking Lava Ridge Road in either direction. This trail offers access to several networks of off-road trails in the area. The area has outstanding vistas of the mountains and valleys. In springtime, one will see many varieties of wildflowers and the occasional antelope run by. There is one bar of Verizon LTE most of the way and a few camping spots here and there. Be aware of the potential for deep mud holes in the springtime and after the snow melts.

Difficulty
The deep water crossing at the beginning of the trail is what makes it a 4. Narrow rocky trail with occasional mud holes and washouts out. No winter maintenance.
