Trail Overview
Nicholas Ridge Trail (No. 69) is a short single-track trail in the Coeur d'Alene National Forest mostly made up of narrow winding trail with scattered loose rocks on a loose dirt surface. From west to east, the single track departs from the ATV trail 802 (Hudlow Meadows) and parallels the ATV trail for the entire length of the trail with several trail crossings. The trail is mostly narrow, winding, on a ridge, and with several ruts. Nicholas Ridge Trail drops 1,000 feet elevation and rejoins the ATV trail 802 on a switchback after 2.9 miles. You can follow another two-track north from this intersection to connect to another short segment of Nicholas Ridge by following the trail sign for No. 69. The second segment of the trail is a short, but steep .6 miles that connect down to Little North Fork Road. This segment is loose dirt covered in loose rocks with a couple of steep switchbacks.
Difficulty
This trail is intermediate because of the loose rocks and tight switchbacks, and the difficulty level is consistent throughout the trail.
