Trail Overview

This national forest road leads to Lake Elsie Campground & Recreation Area. Lake Elsie is a no-fee camp area with 11 designated campsites and miles of ATV trails. It's also a great day-use area for kayaking, paddle boarding, and other water activities. The area seems to be popular during hunting season as well.

Difficulty

The road is often narrow (single car width) and steep with sharp turns that would make towing a smaller camper trailer difficult, but not impossible. Otherwise this road is in fairly decent shape in the summertime and may be passable without 4WD. Other times of the year, snow & mud may add to the difficulty. The road has been known to be snow covered into mid-June some years.
