Trail Overview

This loop begins at the Gold Fork Park and Ski area. The loop takes you through some remote and seldom traveled areas with many camp areas along the route. It also takes you by the "Hennessy Yurt" which is a remote yurt you can rent in winter or summer at www.reserveamerica.com. In summer you can park at the entrance gate a hundred yards from the Yurt and in winter it's a 2-mile hike or snowshoe from the trailhead. The trail takes you through Ponderosa Pine and Aspen trees along an easy, but mostly one-lane trail. The trail is not one-way so take note of pull-out spots as you drive. You get great views of the surrounding mountains and there signed are hiking trails throughout the area.

Difficulty

This trail is generally smooth and easy, but rain erosion, downed trees and boulders tall enough to hit the underside of normal 4x4 vehicles can occur.
