Trail Overview

BLM 124 is the natural continuation of Trail 122 and serves as a short connector back to Sagehen Flat Road. Starting from the west end, you'll immediately hit a moderately steep but short climb with some light ruts. Near the top of that climb, the trail gets a bit rockier, which can make traction slightly more challenging. From there, the trail continues as a one-vehicle-wide route with a fairly even mix of dirt and rocks. Rocks are consistent along this trail, though none are larger than about 8 inches. There are also a couple of light off-camber sections, and depending on your vehicle's clearance, you may need to pick your line carefully in a few spots to avoid contacting control arms. While there are a few places to pass oncoming traffic, it generally stays narrow. Overall, it's a short but slightly more technical connector compared to other trails in the area.

Difficulty

This trail is rated at a three due to the initial moderate climb with loose rock affecting traction, along with consistent rocky terrain throughout. The need for occasional line choice to avoid undercarriage contact and the narrow trail width add to the challenge. While obstacles are not extreme, the steady presence of rocks and light off-camber sections justify a rating of three.

Access Description

This trail is easy to spot from either end. Either start from Sagehen Flat Road, about three and a half miles up from the start, and you will see the sign for the 124 trail on the right. Or start from the 122 trail, and you will naturally end up on this trail, as it is the natural continuation of the 122 trail. It is marked with a sign here as well.
