Trail Overview
Big Creek is one of the longer single tracks in this trail system and is a really fun one with some moderate challenges. Most of it is a narrow alpine single track through a jungle-like forest. It has sections of shelfy side-hilling with exposure, sections with lots of rock pieces and small round rocks in the trail, but also lots of smooth sections. It has moderate challenges such as tight and steep switchbacks, and some troughs that make the climbs and descents harder. This one appears to be ridden more and is likely one of the more popular trails in the area. The climbs are pretty gradual, and a lot of it is just fast and flowy with fun ups and downs. It has some tiny stream crossings and a bigger river crossing near the north end. Please be sure to tread lightly on the river crossings. From the south end, it's a long gradual climb of 1,500 feet up within the first 3 miles, then back down 1,300 feet over the next 3 miles. Then it climbs up another 1,000 feet in the last 3 miles. You can bail out on Cemetery Ridge Road, or it connects to several other single-track trails, such as you can take Ames Ridge NRT over to Dam Creek. The north end ends at the St Joe Divide ATV trail.

Difficulty
This is an intermediate trail due to lots of narrow shelfy spots with exposure, and moderate switchbacks.
