There is a possibility of observing a variety of wildlife. This is an active preserve that has several open hunting seasons starting late summer, extending through Spring.

History

The Sam Shine Foundation gained possession of the 31,000 plus acres that composes Mallory Swamp in 1997. This was part of a restoration effort for the Suwanee River Management and Conservation. The Sam Shine Foundation turned this property over to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission to continue the preservation of the lands and establish the WMA.
