Trail Overview
New River Road is an improved road of hard packed gravel and sand. It gains access to Davenport Landing Campground and trailhead along the Ocklawaha River. A cool secluded campsite sheltered by a hammock in Ocala National Forest. It also connects to many forest roads with more technical terrain for highway legal vehicles only as well as OHV only trails. This is a heavily traveled road that is wide enough for two vehicles in most areas but is littered with deep and dangerous potholes. The West end of the road is in the worst shape and should be taken with caution at lower speeds. Areas of the road have been washed out with scattered potholes hidden in the shade. When traveling through we saw several small sedans slowly making their way down the road.
