Trail Overview

This trail is located within the Osceola National Forest and the Osceola Wildlife Management Area. The trail is open to public access year-round unless otherwise posted. This trail may be ridden by registered motor vehicles, all-terrain vehicles, recreational off-highway vehicles (side-by-sides), and unlicensed or unregistered motorcycles. Vehicles are only allowed on named and numbered trails. There are select areas where county-owned and maintained roads prohibit the use of OHV's, ATV's and unregistered/non-licensed motorcycles on the right of ways. These areas are well posted on the shoulders of the roadways. This is the only National Forest that offers fee-free, no-permit-required access year-round. The trail is mostly a tight single vehicle-wide trail that has numerous blind and off-camber corners. Many of those areas are due to the camber and tight vegetation, making passing very challenging. Most of the trail does not have areas for pull-offs, so passing either requires going off-trail or backing up. High clearance 4WD is recommended. The trail can be completed in an hour or less; however would recommend taking extra time and exercising additional caution. The tight trail, off-camber corners, and overall trail condition make this a favorite tract for ATVs, SxS, and dirt bikes. Expect to have numerous encounters with fast moving ATV's, SxS, or dirt bikes as they quickly round the blind corners. The trail is mostly composed of loose, rutted sand with scattered mudholes that can be deep. Obstacles such as fallen trees, stumps, roots, rocks, etc., up to 18 inches may be encountered. This trail leads through a variety of landscapes, ranging from pine/oak Hammocks, hardwood swamps, and wetland/marsh areas. Following rains and or storms, the trail may go unmaintained for a period of time.
