Trail Overview

Dinner Island Ranch is a (WMA) Wildlife Management Preserve through the State of Florida and offers camping opportunities for tents and campers that can be reserved for free online. Dinner Island Ranch is an easy gravel and packed sand drive that can become a little messy after some heavy rain. Roads are typically one and sometimes one and a half vehicles wide with deep drainage ditches on one or both sides of the road. If looking carefully, alligators can be seen swimming in the water or sunning themselves on the beaches of these ditches. Lots of different birds and other wildlife can be seen in the waterways and hammock groves scattered along the land. Extra caution should be taken for free-roaming cattle once passing through the many cattleguards separating sections of this drive. Dinner Island Ranch also serves many hunting opportunities, and hunters are required to check-in and out at the game check section just past the campground. A single picnic table and shade structure is located halfway through the loop for a lunchtime stop.
