Trail Overview
One vehicle wide on the north side, this sandy route with some gravel displays schizophrenic character between its sections. Starting at Ogilby Road on the north end, you cross many small washes delivering lots of little steps all under 12 inches in relentless succession. Vegetation patches vary wildly from dense forests of desert trees and brush to sparse coverage, creating ever-changing scenery. Overgrown vegetation in spots will hit your vehicle's sides unavoidably. After crossing Ogilby Road again at 2.5 miles, the trail transforms into a wide, graded road that's not entirely smooth but significantly better than the northern 2.5 miles. The first two miles on the south side are narrow again with a rougher surface featuring a lot more washboards. Whoops, washboards, ruts, and off-camber sections scatter throughout the entire length.

Difficulty
Those many small wash crossings, all under 12 inches, accumulate into constant minor bumps without serious obstacles. The whoops, washboards, ruts, and off-camber sections add character, but nothing exceeds basic difficulty. The narrow one vehicle width on the north side and the first two south miles demand attention. Overgrown vegetation creates unavoidable contact and potential pinstriping. The wide, graded middle section provides relief from the rougher end sections. Overall manageable, which any competent high clearance vehicle handles despite the accumulated challenges.
