Trail Overview

Have you always wanted to see what is at the top of Sugarloaf Mountain? Me too; however, right as you arrive at the base of the mountain, there is a very heavy-duty gate with many different locks attached. Clearly, unless you are the keeper of the key, you're just going to have to wonder what's up there like the rest of us. The trail to the mountain's base (let's be honest, it's a hill) is very scenic as it crosses through the fields of wind farm turbines. Don't fret, though, several off-shoot trails before you get to the base take you in different directions. Just be sure to turn it off before you get to the gate, or you'll be disappointed. There is an excellent well-trafficked option right before the base of the hill, which routes around the Eastern side and connects with the network of trails to the south of the mountain. There are two bars of solid Verizon LTE cell service.

Difficulty

It's narrow for only one vehicle, and oncoming may have to wait for you to pass. The trail is sandy most of the way but not super deep sand.
