Trail Overview

The Palomar Divide is an easy drive with beautiful views. It is a single lane with pull-offs throughout. The majority of the trail is dirt, however, it has some old paved sections in the lower elevation portion. During the rain or snow seasons, one can expect slick conditions and should proceed with caution.

Palomar Divide road 9S07. Sign mentioned closure with weather. Wasn’t raining yet but it’s expected over the next few days.

Rode the trail up to the tower on my big ADV bike. Trail is a mix of graded gravel, beat up paved, sandy corners and rough dirt with occasional rocks. It’s big bike friendly with nothing too tough. It is more challenging and varied than the Nate Harrison Grade even though the other trail gets a higher OnX rating. Gorgeous views all around. On the map it looks like it might go through to Palomar but there’s a locked gate just past the lookout tower.
