Trail Overview

Difficulty

Easy: Roads are mostly hard-packed dirt but can get muddy after prolonged periods of rainy weather. Road is steep and narrow in a few places.

History

Usal Beach was once a loading point for redwood lumber, which was transported by water to the point of sale. As this business faded away in the 1930s, the area became known as the 'Lost Coast.' All vestiges of lumber production have long ago been destroyed by fire.
