Trail Overview
This mostly loose sandy trail features some deeper sections while showcasing probably the largest groupings of Joshua trees in the whole area, alongside desert brush and occasional blooming seasonal flowers. Nice boulder rock formations scatter throughout, adding scenic variety. At the apex, an established hiking trail branches off for foot exploration. Great views emerge from high elevation vantage points. Off-camber sections, ruts, and uneven surfaces plunge up to 18 inches deep throughout. The east section features washboards and whoops, adding to the challenges.

Difficulty
Those off-camber sections, ruts, and uneven surfaces up to 18 inches deep are serious obstacles demanding high clearance and skilled navigation repeatedly. Mostly loose sand with some deeper sections requires excellent momentum management, and airing down is essential. The up to 18-inch obstacles, combined with washboards and whoops in the east section, create accumulated difficulty. Four wheel drive and high clearance are essential for the deep ruts and loose sandy conditions. The massive Joshua tree groves provide a scenic reward for the technical challenges.
