Trail Overview

This is a great intermediate trail featuring beautiful views of surrounding canyons and chaparral. On clear days you can see a long stretch of the LA Aqueduct to the north. Most of the trail is relatively mild, with some steep climbs, deep ruts, and mud holes adding a bit of challenge. There are numerous trail bypasses with more difficult obstacles that are not sanctioned; please respect the area and stick to the main trail. This trail dead-ends at a locked gate, but you can use Quarry Road 6N19 and Coarse Gold Road 5N24 to make this a through route. To prevent damage, avoid this trail after moderate to heavy rainfall.

Difficulty

Most of this trail is easily drivable. Some sections feature deep ruts and mud, others are significantly eroded and off-camber. High clearance, 4WD, and good tires are strongly recommended. Airing down is not necessary but will make for a more comfortable ride.

We entered through Coarse Gold Road 5N24 and took a right through Quarry Road 6N19. The trail has a moderate difficulty. Some washed out spots, but overall very nice. There are smaller detours for some more difficult adventures. We only saw one other Off-Roader on the trail on a nice sunny day at 91 degrees.

Access Description

Coming from Santa Clarita, approach via Vasquez Canyon Road or Bouquet Canyon Road. This trail is only accessible using other trails. The trailheads are on Bouquet Canyon Road. Look for signs labeling either Coarse Gold Road or Quarry Road. There is no parking or staging at the trailheads.
