Trail Overview

Chalk Bluff Road is a graded, well-used road with bouldering on the north side and fishing access to the south side. Chalk Bluff Road is well used. There is a vault toilet at the west side start of the trail and another one about 3/4 of the way into it, with ample parking. Chalk Bluff Road gives great access to the Owens River, which, in most of this section, is catch and release with barbless hooks. Most of this fishing access is walk-in only, with pullouts. This road also offers access to the Happy Boulders and Sad Boulders climbing areas. The road follows the mesa plateau you can see from town, offering a unique view of the geographic makeup of the area while also offering a fantastic view of the Owens River. Camping is available at the Pleasant Valley Owens River Campground (Paid) or the surrounding BLM land. Plated Vehicles only.
