Trail Overview

This 9-mile out-and-back trail starts off Borrego Salton Seaway, also called Highway 22. The route cuts west and cuts through a big, wide wash as it continues through the terrain. Near the beginning, there is a steep downhill which has deep ruts and off-camber sections, setting the tone early. The trail will narrow and wind through the hills. You'll encounter deep ruts, off-camber sections, whoops, washboards, drops in and out of sandy washes, and deep sandy sections up to 18 inches, creating constant technical challenges. At the end, there is a very steep climb that requires a tight turn combined with ledges up to 2 feet tall, creating an extremely demanding finale. Part of the trail cuts through private land, so please be respectful and stay on the trail to avoid trespassing. If you make it to the end, there are a couple of surprises that await.
