Trail Overview

This is the perimeter fence of the Hot Wells Sand Dune area. It has some fun trails and is sandy, somewhat hilly, and sometimes a little rocky. The trails inside this area are mostly sandy with only a couple of sand hills, but watch out for the drop-offs, as they are abrupt and can damper your day. Sadly, several people have been killed out here on these nasties. Ride slow until you know. There are some nice camp spots that are somewhat developed and a large group area. There are no hook ups. Spas in the area are fresh water with no chemicals added. The winds can fill them with debris fairly quickly.

Difficulty

There are many easy trails here. Just watch out for the abrupt drop-offs. There are a couple of challenging hill climbs that can be bypassed easily if you prefer not to ride them. You could take a Jeep or truck out here, but this is primarily dirt bike and quad country.

Access Description

The road in from Safford is a bit rough; taking a motorhome or travel trailer is a slow-going experience. There are large pot holes and sides of the road are washed out.
