Trail Overview
Named after nearby Haystack Peak, Haystack Rock and Roll will have you doing just that--rocking and rolling nearly the entire way through. Whether you start from the north or south, you won't be lulled to sleep on this trail, as the gentle curves of a smooth, wide, dirt trail quickly turn into something much more technical. Nearly 6 miles in length, the middle 4 miles are filled with boulder fields that pepper a narrow trail that winds through juniper and mixed pine trees. Ledges, rock gardens, and some paint damage are almost guaranteed on this trail. There is no cell service on this trail, and rocks might shift as you pass over them, so caution is urged.
