Trail Overview
The trail veers off of the East Edwin Road just after crossing the first wash. You turn north onto the trail. The trail weaves through some tight spots in trees and cacti. The mud holes can get big after a rain, but the bottoms are mostly sandy. The main trail is the most used, but there are several sidetracks that return to the main trail. Be careful, as there are many side trails that wander off in different directions. Eventually you get to a steep hill that is the gateway to the inner Tortolitas. This section and beyond requires a bit more ground clearance and skill. A steep step up and down leads you out to the old windmill and overlook. This is a great campsite and viewpoint.

Difficulty
Most of the trail is an easy dirt track. The rating is due to some mud holes that remain weeks after rainfall and the step up and down towards the end of the trail.
