Trail Overview
Robin Hood (FS 714) is a semi-maintained gravel Forest Service road within the Willow Springs Unit of Mark Twain National Forest. Robin Hood begins at the Howell County Road 5710 heading south into the forest, first descending a curvy hill overlooking a small water collection area to the southwest, followed by the road and collection area meeting in the bottoms, where the road becomes beaten from the water egress and erosion. The road then climbs back up hill, crossing mild erosion and rutting while turning slightly to the flat peak of the next hill, while having great views to the east of the water collection bottom and then to the south of the valley in the bottoms below. On this flat peak, the road leads to a large opening and a turnaround location where the MVUM-sanctioned road ends, and the admin road begins. This can be explored further on foot, or users must turn motorized vehicles around and head out the way they entered.

Difficulty
Robin Hood is given a base rating of 2/10 for having mild water erosion and washes in the valley bottom and on the mild grades along the track, as well as having all the common gravel road complications, including potholes, washboarding, and mounding of the gravel as well as spots that fade to dirt and surface mud. Difficulty could increase during heavy use, wet conditions, or severe lack of maintenance.
History
On the weekend of March 21st, 2026, OnX Offroad partnered with local organizations, Rallye In The Ozarks, Heartland Trail Trash, and Critter's Clean Up and Cruise, to host an OnX Offroad Trail Revival Project, to remove 3 large illegal tire dumps, and conduct an additional litter pick-up. The results were impressive, yielding 348 tires and 3000lbs of trash (including an ice chest, 4 couches, and a variety of small litter) being removed from the Mark Twain National Forest in that singular day. Robin Hood yielded medium amounts of litter being picked up in the valley bottom and along its edges, but had the largest of the 3 illegal tire dumps, having roughly 200 tires at the MVUM-end turnaround.
