Trail Overview
This is a 5.6-mile open desert single track from Jessie's Twist to Interstate 70. As the name implies, it covers open desert through the rolling clay hills of the northern San Rafael Desert. The trail is signed very well at all access points and road crossings with single-track signage, but no trail numbers were observed. The trail is well-defined and easily followed but not overused, keeping it fun. This is a fast-flowing single track with very few obstacles, but you need to be on the lookout for the occasional wash crossings that seem to come out of nowhere. This trail can be accessed on the west end by taking Jessie's Twist. The east end has a small single-track connector from old Highway 24. This, like all routes in this area, becomes impassable when wet and should be avoided as you can become bogged down and stranded in the mud. Have fun and enjoy the San Rafael desert. This area was recently signed with all open routes well marked by the county and BLM.
