Trail Overview
The Long Valley Foothills trail is a 7.5-mile predominantly sand track that runs along the base of the western Sand Mountain cliffs. This trail is rated 4 of 10 due to deep sand tracks and sandhill obstacles. The first stop along this trail is an old pit house of unknown origin. Continuing on the trail follows the base of the Sand Mountain cliffs with spectacular views of cragged rock formations and deep gorges. The trail proceeds through deep washes and has several steep sand hill climbs, some of which have bypasses.

Difficulty
Trail consisting of loose rock, dirt, and sand with some slickrock surfaces. Some erosion; washes, gulches, and rock steps no higher than 18". Tall tires (33" plus) and a limited slip would be a plus. 4WD is required. Enhanced suspension travel and good ground clearance are helpful. Good driving skills are a plus.
