Trail Overview

If you need to get from Monroe Mountain Road to Upper Box Creek Reservoir Trail to the Paiute ATV Trail Dry Creek Monroe Mountains Loop, this interconnect takes you southeast to northwest through the forest so you don't have to go clear around. It's a cut-across in the middle of the plateau that is full-width and an easy ride. There are some easy hills with loose rocks, but it's not a difficult trail. Good ground clearance is required. There are places where the spring run-off has caused erosion, but in mid-July 2023 it was dry. You rise to a high point with marvelous views of the surrounding mountains and meadows. There are ponds up here, fed by the vast number of springs and creeks in this area. If it's not raining, this is a nice place to have a picnic, do some hiking and backpacking, or set up a tent and camp for a few days. Fishlake National Forest allows camping for up to 16 days in one location.
