Trail Overview

This easy out and back provides access into the hills and passes through two very tight cattle gates. These are two-person operation gates, although the first one has a handy cheater bar to open it. From the bottom are great views of the Steens Mountains as you pass through long grassy meadows and cow tracks. There are quite a few watering troughs and slat licks, so the cows are plenty. Once a bit higher, there are lovely juniper trees. Although no fire rings are present, there are some flat spots with excellent views to disperse the camp. The route ends right at a private property with no trespassing signs. There are one to two bars of LTE cell coverage.

Difficulty

Mostly easy, with room to pass oncoming, ruts but not deep ones, A great easy spot to get to for good camping options.
