Trail Overview

This is a beautiful in-and-out following the Wild River along a seasonally closed gravel road. There are a lot of scenic views to enjoy of the river and gorge. The road dead ends at the Wild River Campground managed by the White Mountains National Forest. There are lots of hiking trailheads on the sides of the road including the Wild River basin and Shelburne South trailheads.

Multiple washouts and trees down. The Wild River Campground is accessible via hike in or bicycle in. There are envelopes in the pay station and the green tube is open to accept them $22/night. 2 lean to’s and rest are tent sites with picnic tables and fire rings. Bear box is placed in center of Campground at bottom of hill to access the sites in the back of the campground. Dumpster is near entrance. Pit toilet open and at entrance.
