Trail Overview
The Snow Shoe Creek Road is a wonderful escape into the high alpine meadows of the Helena National Forest. The trail begins in the lush hay valleys along the Little Blackfoot River, and ends near the spine of the continent, the Continental Divide. Along the way, rippling creeks and small lakes abound. Rich with wildlife, one will want to keep the camera handy. Starting at the junction with Highway 12, the first eight miles are private so please stay the trail. After entering the forest, opportunities for dispersed camping are abundant. The road gets more difficult as it gains altitude, but even at its hardest it is suitable for most vehicles.
Difficulty
The first eight miles are would be graded at the easiest level of difficult. Loose rocks and inclines increase with altitude, necessitating the class two rating.
