Trail Overview

This out-and-back spur trail features exciting steep, long hill climbs with loose rocks: a few taller shelves, and deep rocky wash crossings. There are plenty of narrow bush sections to clear your vehicle of that pesky clear coat all over your paint. There are magnificent vistas along the trail with bountiful wildlife viewing, from birds like the red-tailed hawk and quail to the occasional bobcat and coyote crossing the path. There are a few great campsites near the end of the recorded trail, and the route continues for a bit past them but only to a narrow, hardly traveled spot to turn around. The area has plenty of military air traffic, so watch for A10 warthogs and the occasional national guard F16. Be aware this is a high-traffic area for illegal crossings, and an enlisted may be possible. Report any sightings to the proper authorities upon getting back into service. There is no cell service of any kind out here.
