Trail Overview

If you're looking to escape the crowds of Moab and sneak off into the pines, Elk Ridge in the Manti-La Sal National Forest is a perfect choice. Leading off Beef Basin, this trail climbs into the hills and opens up onto a pine-strewn plateau where you can hear the Elks bugle at night. The road itself is wide and relatively smooth and largely used to access smaller trails and camping sites, which are abundant.

Difficulty

This is a fairly straightforward dirt road with some switchbacks. Mud and snow can become an issue and make the trail impassable.
