Trail Overview
The Crystal Geyser Spur takes you from the Crystal Geyser at the Green River, south to the Badlands Trail. You cross Utah State Trust Lands and BLM, so no extra sticker is required. Like to fish? Throw a line in the Green River. Have a picnic on the beach or just enjoy the view. The Green River runs from near Pinedale, Wyoming, down to where it connects with the Colorado River in Canyonlands National Park. Other trails of interest in this vast playground include the Badlands Trail, Crystal Geyser Road, White Wash Sand Dunes, Secret Spire, Spring Canyon Bottom and the Ten Mile Wash, just to name a few. Other points of interest include the Labyrinth Rims, Spring Canyon and White Rim. This area south of Green River, UT, resembles the surface of the moon in some places, with fine gray dirt and rock formations. Be sure to carry extra fuel as there is no gas station for miles. Watch for rattlesnakes in the desert, they're always a threat. The Crystal Geyser is a bit of a disappointment, as it no longer erupts to its former glory of 130 feet, but the river is beautiful. You are required to have a Utah OHV sticker, but starting Feb 2023, Utah is going to begin enforcement of their new law, which requires an online course for all off-roaders. The free course will be available online as of Jan 1, 2023. The state says the online course will take 15-30 minutes, and it's required for all off-roaders, Jeeps, SXSs, dirt bikes, ATVs. You will have to print out something to carry with you which shows you took the course. I have a photo below with information about this course.
Difficulty
An easy trail where rains and erosion might create off-camber riding and washouts.
History
The Crystal Geyser is a cold-water geyser, not thermal, that in its prime would reach heights of 130 feet. Today, it rarely, if ever, erupts. Maybe you'll get lucky and see a little spurt.
