Trail Overview

Forest Service Road 5179 is an eccentric trail that offers a variety of scenery changes. It shows off dramatically with some spectacular views of the tall red pine and hardwood trees, similar to NFS 5185 and 7969. The trail encounters a few mud and water holes that can get deep and rutted out, especially during or after inclement weather. Regardless of the conditions, this is a great trail to tackle. Weaving in and out of some deep wooded forest areas makes this excursion one to put on your list to track. Side note: there is one large dispersed campsite alongside the trail.
