Trail Overview

Gaston Road is part of the trail network in the Ate's Creek tract of Belmore State Forest. The trail surface varies between hard-pack limestone and dirt. It's a stock-friendly trail that can be completed in about 30-45 minutes, depending on much sightseeing is done. You can see a variety of typical Florida plants and trees, with the entire forest being primarily pine forest. After a recent rainfall, the trail can have areas of water, but typically no deeper than about 6". The trail can easily be done in 2WD. Many of Belmore's other trails intersect with Gaston, so the trail is a great main road to use for your trip through the forest.

Difficulty

The trail is easily done in 2WD. You'll need to find a place to pull off if you encounter oncoming traffic though.
