Trail Overview

Mitchell Mine is a nice, easy in-and-out summer trail for a leisurely stroll through the forest. It's also a good trail for beginners to get used to how their vehicle feels while off-road. The surface is easy enough for stock AWD vehicles with street tires, and at least a full six inches of clearance. Stock 4x4 trucks with all-terrain tires should have no problems, and can probably complete the drive in 2WD. Deep snow through March makes it more challenging and requires more vehicle clearance and possibly a wench.

Difficulty

The majority of the road is packed dirt, with light pitch-and-roll angles. The trail does sustain damage during the winter, but is still easily traversed once the snow clears.

Trail seems to extend, in a cruder form, for about five hundred feet beyond the end of what OnX shows.   Another road, labeled in OnX as “Eldorado”, and indicated to be closed, is, in fact, open, and branches off from the main trail not very far in, taking a long loop to the northeast and eventually connecting back to the main paved road.

Open. Easy trail. Some ruts, potholes, small rocks, one mild hill. Probably doable in 2wd with a little bit of ground clearance.
