The Wasatch Mtns Box Elder Peak Lone Peak Timpanogos unit regulates hunting opportunities for mountain goat in Utah and covers 604 square miles. Public lands comprise 299 square miles (50%) of the total land covered by this wildlife management unit. The greater region is best serviced by Sandy, Murray, and Cottonwood Heights. The elevation of the region ranges from a low of 4,300 feet to a high of 11,600 feet above sea level. Wildfires have burned nearly 10 acres here in the last two years, providing opportunities for new vegetation and attracting a variety of wildlife. There are 29 trailheads that provide public gateways to these forested and wilderness areas: Uinta National Forest, Wasatch National Forest, Lone Peak Wilderness, Mount Olympus Wilderness, Mount Timpanogos Wilderness, Twin Peaks Wilderness.
