The 75 INTERSTATE unit, wildlife management unit regulates hunting opportunities for wildlife in Oregon and covers 2,196 square miles. Public lands comprise 1,678 square miles (77%) of the total land covered by this wildlife management unit. The greater region is best serviced by Lakeview. The elevation of the region ranges from a low of 4,100 feet to a high of 8,300 feet above sea level. Wildfires have burned nearly 3,401 acres here in the last two years, providing opportunities for new vegetation and attracting a variety of wildlife. This area contains 26 campgrounds, and 3 public fishing access sites. There are 32 trailheads that provide public gateways to these forested and wilderness areas: Fremont National Forest, Modoc National Forest, Winema National Forest, Gearhart Mountain Wilderness. Additionally, 34 sites are open to the public for access to managed private lands.
