Zone D regulates hunting opportunities for wildlife in Florida and covers 10,710 square miles. Public lands comprise 1,949 square miles (19%) of the total land covered by this hunt zone. The greater region is best serviced by Bradfordville. The elevation of the region ranges from a low of 100 feet to a high of 300 feet above sea level. Wildfires have burned nearly 1,501 acres here in the last two years, providing opportunities for new vegetation and attracting a variety of wildlife. This area contains 12 campgrounds, and 1 public fishing access sites. There are 37 trailheads that provide public gateways to these forested and wilderness areas: Apalachicola National Forest, Bradwell Bay Wilderness, Mud Swamp/New River Wilderness, Saint Marks Wilderness. Additionally, 3 sites are open to the public for access to managed private lands.
