Unit S62 regulates hunting opportunities for bighorn sheep in Colorado and covers 1,063 square miles. Public lands comprise 860 square miles (81%) of the total land covered by this game management unit. The greater region is best serviced by Delta, and Eckert. Wildfires have burned nearly 758 acres here in the last two years, providing opportunities for new vegetation and attracting a variety of wildlife. This unit is a gateway to these forested and wilderness areas: Uncompahgre National Forest Camel Back Wilderness Study Area, Dominguez Canyon Wilderness Study Area. Additionally, 12 sites are open to the public for access to managed private lands.
