Updated Forecasts Anytime
Seven-day and hourly forecasts update as you move deeper into the backcountry, so you can keep an eye on the latest conditions and check for changes at destinations that may still be days away.

The Winds of Change
Wind conditions can blow a hunt, change a day on the water, load a slope, and do more to change the trajectory of a trip than nearly anything else. Stay aware of current conditions and forecasted changes with the ability to see real-time wind conditions on any Waypoint on your map.

Current Conditions Power Animal Predictions
Know more than weather conditions—know whether deer are on the move. onX Hunt’s Deer Movement Forecast combines current conditions with insight from millions of trailcam photos to give a localized look at the odds of animals being active.
Frequently Asked Questions
No, onX Apps will automatically use satellite connectivity, if available. You’ll need a compatible device and a T-Mobile T-Satellite service for the App to connect. Make sure you’re on the latest version of your onX App and using at least iOS 26 on iPhone.
No, because satellite data connections are slower than cell or wifi connections, only Wind and Weather data is optimized to update via satellite. You still need to download and use Offline Maps for maps, customizations, and area details outside of service.
Yes! If you have a compatible unlocked device, you can add a T-Satellite service (and an eSIM card) and take advantage of onX satellite connectivity. Click here for more info.
Texting via satellite is a separate function from onX’s ability to communicate with satellites and is entirely dependent on your device and carrier settings. If you’re connected via T-Satellite, for example, you can text.
Yes, onX uses the GPS receiver in your device to display your location on the map. GPS satellites are not the same as the ones used to transmit data. While an obscured view of the sky, such as a being in a canyon or under a heavy tree canopy can affect both types of connection, there’s no shared capability between the two.
We’re actively exploring how else we can empower adventurers deep in the backcountry, but at the moment our wind and weather functions are the only things the App will pull via satellite.

Connection, only when you want it.
Satellite connectivity means you can plug in for an update most anywhere you can see the sky. And if you just want to look at the sky and unplug, we can help with that too.
