Description
This route begins at the parking lot off Ziegler Drive and follows a well-defined path around the shoreline. From the trailhead, hikers head into mixed hardwood and conifer forest, staying close to the water’s edge for much of the route. Several sections pass through boggy ground near the pond’s inlets, so waterproof boots are helpful. Along the way, the trail offers consistent views across the pond, with opportunities to spot deer, songbirds, and signs of beaver activity. The route circles back to the starting point without major climbs, though the terrain can be uneven and wet in places. In winter, snow and ice create a more challenging experience, and footing can be slick around frozen sections of shoreline. Overall, this trail provides a quiet walk with steady pond views and a sense of solitude uncommon on more popular Finger Lakes day hikes.
