This route begins at the main parking area off Union Street and Quaker Road in Oatka Creek Park, located near Scottsville in the Wheatland area. From the trailhead, follow signs for the Old Burrell Road Trail as it gently winds through mixed hardwood forest. Early on, the route passes through shady sections with minimal elevation change before reaching a Y-intersection—stay right to continue toward the Bluebird Trail. Around this section, keep an eye out for songbirds and deer moving through the underbrush.
As the trail continues, it skirts near meadow edges before transitioning to the White Tail Trail. Stay on the main path at all intersections, as signage is clear and the terrain remains easy to navigate. The final segment on Maple Hill Trail includes short sections through open field and light woods, eventually curving back toward the parking area. Expect a mix of gravel, dirt, and occasional muddy spots, particularly after rain. This route is dog-friendly and sees light traffic, making it a relaxing option for easy day hikes near Rochester.
